What Low Carb Diet is Best for You?

A new trend in weight loss is the low carbs diet. A low carbohydrate diet means limiting your overall carbohydrate intake and increasing your proteins and fat. These diets limit carb intake, but the dieter stills feels very satisfied since proteins and fats are okay to consume. Carbs are mainly made of sugar, and will make your body not burn fat as fast as it could. Eliminating carbs will make the body burn sugar (as it usually does), but after a short period of time the body will then start burning fat instead. This elimination period can cause the dieter to feel tired, irritable, have headaches, dizziness and fatigue.

We really like coconut sugar, but don''t go thinking it''s better for low-carb diet. http://t.co/DkvRxQPnlK << Get the facts @AboutDotCom.

One type of low carbs diet, the Atkins diet, was one of the first diet plans to eliminate carbohydrates for weight loss. The main purpose of the Atkins diet is to decrease carbs and find the underlying causes of being overweight. The Atkins diet is easily customizable to individual dieters, with the main goal of all dieters to reduce and eliminate most added sugars and refined grains for your whole life. The four phases of the Atkins diet are induction, ongoing weight loss, pre-maintenance and maintenance. Induction is the stage where individuals lose the most weight, with the next stage, ongoing weight loss as they phase where they continue to lose a small amount of weight. The last two phases are simply maintaining the goal weight, and avoiding weight loss. Each phase’s length is dependent on the individual dieter.

The South Beach Diet is a low carbs diet that became popular in the late 90s. This diet restricts saturated fats and most types of carbohydrates. Carbs are added slowly over the course of the diet, with saturated fats added in the final phase. The first phase of the diet, the restriction phase, lasts two weeks. After the first two weeks the dieter is allowed to add food back in, with advice about which carbs are best to eat to continue weight loss. There are lists of foods to avoid and foods that the dieter is encouraged to eat during phase two, which is complete when the dieter has met their weight loss goal. The last phase is the maintenance phase, at which time the dieters are encouraged to eat the appropriate carb level to maintain their weight. Dieters can go back to phase one and two if needed.

Other low carbs diets that are popular include Atkins Diet, Sonoma Diet, Zone Diet and Protein Power. These diets are all based on the reduction of carbohydrates in the diet, but have different phases, foods to eat and supplements to take. No matter what kind of low carbohydrate diet you choose, the goal is ultimately healthy weight loss and the maintaining of a healthy weight.
